McDonald's burger at home

Ingredients

For the Beef Patties

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80/20)
  • 2 Tbsp Bread crumbs
  • 1 Large egg
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Ground black pepper

For Assembly

  • 6 Hamburger buns (plain, no sesame seeds)
  • 3 Tbsp Unsalted butter (for toasting buns)
  • ¼ C Ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp Yellow mustard
  • 3 Tsp Minced yellow onion (rehydrated)
  • 12 Dill pickle slices
  • 6 Slices American cheese

Equipment Needed

  • Mixing bowl
  • Skillet or griddle
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling pin
  • Cutting board

Instructions

1. Prepare the Patties

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix thoroughly until uniform in consistency.
  3. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and roll them into balls.
  4. Between two sheets of parchment paper, flatten each ball into a thin patty (about ¼ inch thick) using a rolling pin or your hands.

2. Cook the Patties

  1. Preheat your skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Butter the inside of each hamburger bun and toast them in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Set aside.
  3. Place the patties on the hot cooking surface. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.

3. Assemble the Burgers

  1. On the bottom half of each toasted bun, spread about 1 tablespoon of ketchup and ½ teaspoon of mustard.
  2. Add a slice of American cheese on top of each cooked patty while it’s still hot to allow it to melt slightly.
  3. Layer with 2-3 pickle slices and a teaspoon of rehydrated minced onions.
  4. Top with the other half of the bun.

4. Final Touch

  1. For an authentic touch, microwave each assembled cheeseburger for about 15 seconds to melt the cheese further and soften the bun.

Enjoy!
