- 2 Tbsp Bread crumbs
- 1 Large egg
- ½ tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Ground black pepper
For Assembly
- 6 Hamburger buns (plain, no sesame seeds)
- 3 Tbsp Unsalted butter (for toasting buns)
- ¼ C Ketchup
- 2 Tbsp Yellow mustard
- 3 Tsp Minced yellow onion (rehydrated)
- 12 Dill pickle slices
- 6 Slices American cheese
Equipment Needed
- Mixing bowl
- Skillet or griddle
- Parchment paper
- Rolling pin
- Cutting board
Instructions
1. Prepare the Patties
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Mix thoroughly until uniform in consistency.
- Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and roll them into balls.
- Between two sheets of parchment paper, flatten each ball into a thin patty (about ¼ inch thick) using a rolling pin or your hands.
2. Cook the Patties
- Preheat your skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Butter the inside of each hamburger bun and toast them in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Set aside.
- Place the patties on the hot cooking surface. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
3. Assemble the Burgers
- On the bottom half of each toasted bun, spread about 1 tablespoon of ketchup and ½ teaspoon of mustard.
- Add a slice of American cheese on top of each cooked patty while it’s still hot to allow it to melt slightly.
- Layer with 2-3 pickle slices and a teaspoon of rehydrated minced onions.
- Top with the other half of the bun.
4. Final Touch
- For an authentic touch, microwave each assembled cheeseburger for about 15 seconds to melt the cheese further and soften the bun.
