Sri Lankan Mixed Rice Recipe



Mixed Rice

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of rice (Basmati or any long-grain variety)
  • 4 cups of water
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional herbs/spices (e.g., pandan leaves or curry leaves)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the Rice:
    • Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. Cook the Rice:
    • In a pot, combine rinsed rice and water. Add salt and optional herbs/spices for flavor.
    • Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer for about 15–20 minutes, or until all water is absorbed.
    • Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Fluff and Serve:
    • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving alongside the fish curry
